It’s going up!
This former 3 storey purpose built detached building currently containing 11 flats is going up after it was announced in the summer that the housing secretary would introduce new permitted development rights for building upwards on existing buildings, including extending residential blocks by up to two storeys.
Under Class AD “new flats on detached dwellings” this building will gain another 2 storeys and contain 19 flats in total.
Without requiring planning permission homeowners, developers and landlords can now build upward extensions and add two storeys for housing to their structure (certain criteria applies).
